Add a 3D model to a product

A 3D model lets a shopper turn the product around on its page, zoom in, see it change when they pick a colour or a metal, and on a phone place it in their room ("View in your space"). It is included in every plan.

Prepare the file

  • Format: one .glb file (binary glTF 2.0) with the textures inside it. .gltf with separate files, .obj and .fbx are not accepted.
  • Size: up to 15 MB. Smaller loads faster on mobile data; aim for under 5 MB.
  • Compression: meshopt for the mesh and WebP for textures work. Draco and KTX2 are not supported yet.
  • Give each part that changes colour its own named material in your 3D tool (for example Band and Stone). That name is what you pick when you map options.

If your file is too big or uses Draco, this one command fixes both:

npx @gltf-transform/cli optimize in.glb out.glb --compress meshopt --texture-compress webp

Upload it

  1. Open the product in your dashboard (Products, then the product).
  2. In the 3D model card, choose Upload .glb model.
  3. Check the preview. Drag to rotate, scroll to zoom.
  4. Add a poster: either Use current view as poster or upload an image. Shoppers see it while the model loads.
  5. Write a short description for screen readers in English and Arabic, then Save.

Colours and metals

If the product has options (for example Metal: Gold, White gold, Rose gold), the card lists every option value. For each one:

  1. Pick the part of the model it changes (a material, or a variant already inside the file).
  2. Pick a finish: Gold, White gold, Rose gold, Silver, Platinum, or a custom colour.
  3. Press Preview to see it, then Save mapping.

On your store the model changes as soon as the shopper taps the option, even before they choose a size. Options with a colour also get a small colour dot.

AR ("View in your space")

  • iPhone / iPad: works out of the box. The phone builds the AR file from your model with the finish the shopper picked. If you have your own .usdz file, upload it in the card and it is used instead.
  • Android: opens Google's AR viewer with your model (it shows the file's default colours).
  • Computers do not show the AR button. You can switch AR off for a product in the card.
