Orders and cash on delivery

Cash on delivery

COD is on by default. The customer pays the courier when the order arrives. You can add InstaPay next to it, and you must keep at least one payment method turned on.

The COD fee

If you charge a fee for cash on delivery (a fixed amount, a percentage, or both, in Payment settings), your customer sees it before they place the order: the payment option says a fee applies, and the order summary shows a Cash on delivery fee line with the exact amount, inside the total. The percentage is taken from the goods (after discounts) plus shipping. The fee is then fixed on the order: what the customer saw is what the courier collects, and it is part of the invoice.

When a COD order counts as paid

When the order is Delivered, the cash is collected: the order is marked Paid automatically, the same as pressing Mark paid. A COD order is never cancelled automatically for being unpaid, because the customer pays on delivery, which can be days later. You cancel it yourself, or it is cancelled when the parcel comes back to you (see below).

When the parcel comes back

If the courier brings the parcel back (the customer refused it, or delivery failed), move the shipment to Returned. The order is cancelled, nothing is owed on cash on delivery, and the items go back into stock unless you untick Put the items back in stock. For a carrier that reports a return by itself, the items go back into stock.

After a COD order your customer can see a Confirm on WhatsApp button (see WhatsApp buttons), which makes it easy to confirm the address and time before you ship.

Order statuses

Every order has a status you move forward as you work on it:

StatusMeaning
PendingNew order, not yet looked at
Awaiting payment confirmationAn InstaPay transfer you still need to confirm (see InstaPay)
ConfirmedYou have confirmed it with the customer
ProcessingYou are preparing it
ShippedIt is on its way
DeliveredThe customer has it
CancelledThe order was cancelled
RefundedThe money was returned

Separately, a payment status shows whether the order is Paid or Unpaid (or failed, refunded or disputed). Your customers see these same statuses, in Arabic or English, in their account under Orders.

The delivery address

Every order shows the delivery address the way your customer entered it: the street, building, floor and apartment, then the area and governorate, and the landmark (the «علامة مميزة» field) on its own line. Read the landmark before you hand the order to the courier, because it is often how the courier finds the door. Customers can also save addresses in their account with the same fields, and pick them again at checkout.

Returns

In Shipping, the Return policy card sets how many days after delivery a customer can ask for a return:

  • A number of days (for example 14) is shown on your store's Returns, Terms and FAQ pages, and customers cannot request a return after that many days from the delivery date.
  • 0 means you do not accept returns. The Returns page says so and the request form is hidden.
  • Leaving it blank means you have not declared a window. Your pages then print no number and no limit is enforced.

When you set a number of days, the product page also shows it under the add-to-cart button ("Returns within 14 days", next to Cash on delivery when you accept it). Every footer links your Privacy, Terms and Returns pages in a legal row at the bottom; turn each link off, or write your own © line, under Legal row in Pages or in the Footer card of the Page Builder.

Recording a refund

When you give a customer their money back outside a payment provider (cash, InstaPay or a bank transfer), set the order to Refunded and choose how you refunded it. This records the refund on the order and tells the customer their refund was issued, so do it only after you sent the money. It does not send money itself. Only the store owner can record a refund; staff accounts do not see the option. Every refund also issues a credit note (see Invoices and credit notes).

Message a customer

On an order page you can message the customer on WhatsApp with a prefilled text. It opens WhatsApp for you to send; nothing is sent automatically.
